RICH MARTINI

Rich is a Senior Vice President in Collier’s East Bay Multifamily Investment Services Group.  He specializes in assisting clients with a wide array of investment requirements and strategies specific to apartment properties throughout both Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.  Rich has extensive experience advising private clients and investment groups on disposition and acquisition strategies, as well as sourcing and marketing development sites for both market rate and affordable housing developers throughout the Bay Area.  In addition, Rich has experience underwriting, marketing and selling residential subdivision land throughout Northern California.

Rich spent 5 years in the National Football League as a wide receiver for the Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints from 1977 – 1981. The highlight of his career includes an appearance in Super Bowl XV with the World Champion Oakland Raiders.

With almost 40 years of accounting experience, Tax Principal Tim Tikalsky specializes in tax planning, compliance, and consulting for medium-sized to large, closely-held companies, partnerships, and fiduciaries. He has extensive experience in handling engagement with multi-state and foreign operations.

 

Tim has been an adjunct professor at California State University Easy Bay since 2006, where he also received his Bachelor’s in accounting and Masters in taxation. He is a licensed CPA in the State of California, Certified in Strategic Performance Management (CSPM), and is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Gandy is a Managing Director in the San Francisco office of JLL and is primarily responsible for originating debt and equity transactions for all property types throughout the western United States. Throughout the course of his career, he has been involved in more than $6.5 billion in completed transactions and transactions currently under contract to close.

 

Mr. Gandy joined the firm in December 2010. Prior to JLL, he was in operations and asset management at JRK Property Holdings, which had a portfolio of more than 40,000 market-rate and low-income multi-housing units located primarily in Colorado, Texas, Ohio and Florida and a $200 million investment fund. Prior to JRK, he worked at Protiviti, Inc., where he was a consultant focused on clients in the real estate, construction and financial services industries. Mr. Gandy is a Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB).

SHAWN CULLY

Mr. Cully is a Managing Director in the San Francisco office and focuses on investment sourcing, credit and underwriting analysis, due diligence and investment closing. Prior to joining Prime Finance, he was an Associate at Fillmore Capital Partners, a manager of high-yield debt funds specializing in operating-intensive real estate. From 2006 to 2008, Mr. Cully was an Analyst at Countrywide Commercial Real Estate Finance, working within the firm's Structured Finance group. Mr. Cully graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Economics.

Before joining the team at PTLA, Page worked with Sequoia Equities, overseeing $350 million in Class-A multifamily assets, as well as the assets' operations teams. With Best Bay Apartments, he managed value-add execution for a portfolio of twenty multifamily communities. Page graduated Cum Laude from the Honors Program at Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Minor in Economics.

As Chief Operating Officer, Page oversees corporate structure, property operations, and asset management for PTLA's $840 million real estate portfolio. He holds a California Real Estate Broker License, Washington Real Estate Broker License, and Oregon Property Manager License.

Demetrios Barnes oversees operations and business development at SmartRent. Prior to joining the team, he was Vice President of Technology Operations for Colony Starwood Homes, leading the charge in the internalization of property management across 12 states and the merger between Colony Starwood Homes and Starwood Waypoint Homes.

 

Previously, Mr. Barnes was Director of Property Management and Technology with Beazer Pre-Owned Rental Homes, and a Regional Manager for several multifamily companies. Mr. Barnes holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Arizona State University.

Economic Update

Patrick Kallerman is a Research Director at the Bay Area Council Economic Institute, where he is responsible for conducting primary analyses, developing research designs, and managing projects. His areas of interest include labor economics, health care, and the environment. Past projects include an examination of high-tech employment and wages in the United States, estimating the economic impact of the Affordable Care Act in California, and an objective look at the size of the 1099 economy.

 

Patrick’s work has appeared in outlets such as Bloomberg, Fast Company, and The Wall Street Journal. Previously Patrick was Policy Director at Health Systems Project and before that a Consultant with Accenture. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from California State University Long Beach. Patrick takes every possible opportunity to explore California’s natural wonders — usually with fly rod in hand — and proudly supports a variety of conservation causes.

Teresa joined CDEC in 2000 and is responsible for providing consulting services to real estate and tax attorneys, accountants, investors, and commercial real estate professionals on the West Coast. She is a frequent lecturer on IRC Section 1031 and has presented accredited courses to real estate and tax professionals.  Ms. Fluegel brings over 25 years of professional experience and expertise to the field.

 

Teresa holds the Certified Exchange Specialist designation and is actively involved in a number of professional organizations including San Francisco Commercial Real Estate Women (SFCREW), CREW East Bay, Northern California Chapter of CCIM, Society of Industrial/Office Realtors and Commercial Women in Real Estate.

Charles has over 20 years experience in civil litigation with an emphasis in real estate, environmental toxic torts, premises liability, construction, and product liability, in both state and federal courts. His real estate and premises liability expertise includes all aspects of commercial and residential landlord/tenant law including leasing, habitability, wrongful eviction, unlawful detainer, MobileHome Residency Law, rent control and eviction control, construction defect, etc.

TREVOR WILSON

Before forming Ridge Capital Investors, Mr. Wilson was senior director of Broadreach Capital Partners, LLC overseeing the investment team in the Pacific Northwest, Northern California and Denver. He was responsible for direct and joint venture investment origination and execution of value-add and opportunistic transactions in all product types, including existing properties, development and land acquisitions.

 

Mr. Wilson has invested approximately $1.9 billion in office, industrial, retail, housing, land and hotel properties and developments during his 21 year career. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bucknell University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Michigan. He is an active member of ULI and NAIOP and is a past president of the San Francisco Bay area chapter of NAIOP and a national board member. Mr. Wilson is also a licensed California Real Estate Broker (Lic# 01892726).

Justin Alanís is CEO and Founder at a stealth-mode proptech company that recently raised an $8m seed round. Prior to his new venture, Justin was the Founder and CEO of Rentlytics, a CRE data aggregation and analytics business that RealPage acquired in October 2018. Within RealPage, Justin became Senior Vice President of the Data Analytics division.

 

Before venturing into the proptech world, Justin was a Partner and Vice President at various CRE Private Equity firms. Justin is also an active investor and advisor in the proptech startup community with notable seed investments in VTS and Juniper Square. He lives in Oakland, CA with his wife and two children.
